A little bit about Branson in Missouri

View of Main Street in Down Town Branson, MO

Downtown is where Branson got its start around 1888. It’s a shopping and entertainment destination with the flavor of an “old time” Main Street, preserved building facades, brick sidewalks and Victorian lamp posts. Historic downtown Branson is located just east of Hwy 65 along the shores of Lake Taneycomo.

The first Theater of Branson's Entertainment Industry

The Owen's Theater,
built in 1935, reflects Branson's roots in fine Ozark entertainment with shows like Hank and Patsy, Together Again and Take the Twain Ride. Owen's Theater, formerly known as The Owen, is the oldest theater in Branson, and has been entertaining Branson visitors since its opening. Because this theater was built in the same year Elvis Presley was born, one of the theater's main shows is Elvis and the Superstars.

Branson Landing

The Historic District's neighbor is Branson Landing, a new lifestyle center with over a mile of boardwalk area along Lake Taneycomo. Branson Landing includes many opportunities for shopping, dining, and entertainment centered around fountains and the Hilton Promenade Hotel. Also located in downtown is Branson's new Convention Center, open in September 2007. The Convention Center offers a variety of conference and meeting rooms and exhibit areas, adjoining the new Hilton Convention Center Hotel. Scenic Railway Branson

Take a ride through time in a glass-topped railroad car. The tour is 105-minutes long and travels a 40-mile trail from downtown Branson to Galena and back. The trip winds across the Ozark Mountains, into verdant valleys, over narrow bridges, and through tunnels. The 5pm tour on Saturdays is a little shorter, but includes a four-course prime rib dinner. A snack car is available for refreshments on all other excursions.

Ride the Ducks

Everyone has fun aboard a Ride The Ducks sightseeing tour of Branson. It's the best way for families to enjoy Branson because we combine fun and music with history and sights. Adults and seniors will have just as much fun as kids. It's the best way for locals and visitors to see all that Branson has to offer. Ride The Ducks is the Branson attraction to experience when you visit just for the day, a weekend or a week.

Next time when you'll visiting Branson, take this fun ride with the Ducks!

Yesterday evening we had a dinner here in the "White River Fish House"
and it was delicious!

The restaurant sits on a dock out into Lake Taneycomo, in front of the bass pro shop, in the Branson landing. The outside is very attractive, with a rustic theme that goes along with the Bass pro shop design. Upon entering, we were shown our seat very quickly,
The hostess was very friendly, and made sure we were happy with the seating.
The decor is done in a decor that compliments the area, which is known for it's rich history of the finest trout fishing. There is a Huge fireplace against the back wall done in stone, with comfortable chairs to relax in front of the fire.

It's spring time at the White River shores

Lake Taneycomo's
clear cold waters provide some of the finest trout fishing available anywhere in the world - and this not only for humans, as you can see in the picture. Also the big white Heron bird is ready to get his catch!

And this is my famous Dave - or, he thinks...he is famous... :)

Thank you my friends,

for all your kind comments to my last posts in the last days, your words are very much appreciated!

Tomorrow we will be on the road again, actually we still don't know in which direction we should go: up to the North towards Iowa, but the weather is not that great up there or should we just go back to much warmer Arizona... ? Doe's anybody live in Iowa, maybe in Orange City or so... and can tell me how the weather really is up there? I don't trust to much all these online and TV weather predictors!!...LOL... :)

Thanks for your tips!
Susanne
